Last week I touched on the importance of creating a system for your home and I had you write out all you do in a day.
My list looked like this:
Exercise/Wellness 1.5 hours
Welcome the daycare kids and get everyone situated- 1 hour
Get my girls ready for school- 1 hour
Shower- 30 minutes (if I’m lucky)
Work on my Fitness Business- 2 hours (naptime)
Care for my Daycare Kids- all day until 5 pm
Return Emails- 1 hour
Family Time and Dinner- 2.5 hours
Personal Time for Steve and Marta in evening after girls go to bed- 1.5 hours
Steve and Marta time- 1 hour
Cleaning and Pick up- 1 hour
Hopefully you have your list in front of you because I want to ask you a few questions about that list.
What on that list can be delegated out to others?
I know you probably want to do it all and don't honestly think that anyone can do many things on the list.
But you are wrong! Personally, I delegate household chores to my hubby, Steve.
He helps with so much around the house.
He does the dishes daily and all the pet care, among many other things, so those things aren't on my list.
What can you take off your list?
Learning to delegate helps decrease the demands on you and in turn help you live a more stress-free life.
This helps you be a better mom, wife, friend, employee and overall person! Let's move forward with your new revised list!
I'd like you to put the things on your list into a schedule and create a system for your day.
Please note that this system is flexible.
Life happens. I
deally, yes, I would like to get an entire thirty minutes to shower, but this doesn't always happen.
Some days it's more like 10 minutes. This is life.
But you must have a game plan to create a home that is functioning as smooth as possible as this creates a home that is much more stress-free and happy for everyone.
Ok, let's plug in all we need to do daily into a schedule.
Take your items on your list and create a time blocked schedule.
Here is what mine looks like.
5:30-6:30 am exercise and wellness
6:30-7:00 welcome some daycare children
7:30-8:30 get my girls up, dressed, fed and out the door for school
9-1:30 daycare work day
1:30-3:30 fitness business- emails, social media
3:30-5pm wrap up day and daycare pickup
5-7:30 Family Time. Dinner, Chill, All in Same Room together. No phones.
7:30-8 Girls Bedtime Routine
8-9:30 Marta Personal Time and Steve Personal Time
9:30-10:30 Steve and Marta Time Together.
This is my life in a nutshell. Yes it changes and yes it is flexible.
Like tonight, as I listen to a little Jason Aldean, I'm typing away during "Family Time" because the girls are at gymnastics with Steve.
Make your schedule flexible.
Realize it will change with the seasons.
Our summer schedule, which is filled with softball and block parties, is very different than our fall/winter schedule.
Another thing I want to touch upon is how I transition between my daily blocks of time.
I personally set alarms. This is what works in a school setting filled with hundreds of children, so it better work for me.
I know at 5 pm I have an alarm signaling the end of my work day which means I put my phone up and dedicate 2.5 hours to my family.
We hang out in the same room, talk, laugh, eat dinner and enjoy each other.
This real life in my opinion.
All of us together.
Then at 7:30 another alarm goes off signaling that it's time for the girls to head upstairs to start their bedtime routine.
Jammies, teeth brushing, picking out our outfits for tomorrow and reading some books.
Then at 8 pm they are all tucked in with prayers.
Steve and I know what to expect next.
The girls know what to expect next.
This is comforting to children and gives them a sense of peace.
A peaceful home is a happy home.
Alright, now it's time for you to create your system. Your schedule.
Let's put it in place and put into action.
Your homework today is to write out your daily schedule.
