What We are Thankful FOUR

Being that there are FOUR of us here at the FOUR FIT SISTERS page - and who doesn't love a play on words, we decided to quickly capture a glimpse into the things that we each are thankful for this holiday season.  I asked each sisters to give me FOUR pictures total to show others what they consider to be a gift.  Thanks for taking the time today, and any day, to visit us here.  We are very thankful for the visitors to our site and are wishing you the best, and healthiest holiday season yet.

Steps to Organize Your Home- Part 3 {plus the winner of $400 announced!}

Are you ready to finish up my three-part series on organizing your home?

If you need to catch up, click on Part 1 and Part 2 to catch up.

Part 3 will wrap up my series and I'll talk about how I schedule my laundry, menu planning, grocery shopping and our cleaning schedule that keeps us organized and on track.  Planning is key.

Raise your hand if you love doing laundry.
Not many hands.  Well I want to share something I started doing in January to help with the laundry drama that is three daughters.


As you can see on my kitchen chalkboard I have one person's name on each day, as well as towels and sheets.
So I will throw in one basket of laundry a day early in the morning.
Then dry mid-morning.
Then fold and put away sometime later in the day.

Having this system helps as I know everything in that day's laundry goes back to the same room.
No more separating, looking for sizes on undies and deciphering whose shirt is whose.
This has helped me save so much time and stay on a schedule.

Each girl has a basket in their room that they fill during the week with their dirty laundry.


On their day I just grab their basket and wash, dry and return to their room.
Easy peasy and life-changing!


Creating a cleaning schedule will help make your home a system.
Knowing what you are doing daily will help from feeling overwhelmed.
Pick one area in your home to focus on daily and stick with this system.
Take it from me, this is so much easier than doing nothing all week and then spending your entire Saturday or Sunday cleaning your home.

A little cleaning everyday is much more appealing to me than spending the weekend family time cleaning.

Here is my personal cleaning schedule.
I'd love to have you create your own and share with me!

Monday: Bathrooms (mirrors, sinks, toilets, floors, tubs)
Tuesday: Bedrooms (pick up, organize, dust, vacuum
Wednesday: Kitchen (countertop, table and chairs, cabinets, appliances, sink)
Thursday: Living/Dining Room (windows, dust, tables, wipe down washer and dryer)
Friday: Floors (hardwoods, vacuum basement and stairs)

Laundry is every day like I mentioned before, as well as dishes and clutter control.
So using this plan, I stay on track all week long.

MENU PLANNING:What I personally like to do is pick 4 main courses for the week and write those ingredients on my shopping list for the week.
Then I will also get our usual staples for the our lunch and breakfast items.

Some of our staples are:
apples, bananas, cuties, grapes, strawberries,
baby spinach, cauliflower, cucumbers, avocados, baby carrots,
grilled chicken, ground turkey, coconut oil, natural peanut butter,
almond milk, rice cakes, raw almonds, gluten free oats, chocolate chips,
peppers, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, rice chex and gluten free pretzels.

GROCERY SHOPPING:After you get your meal plan together, plan a day to do your shopping.
Stick to this day as your  main shopping day.
We usually meal plan over the weekend and then shop on Monday.
This works for our schedule but figure out what's best for your family's schedule.

I hope this breakdown is helpful to you in creating your very own system in your home.
Getting a plan is half the battle.  Once you know what your goals are you can create your own schedule for a smoothly running household.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year...

It truly is my favorite time of year.  I know that Thanksgiving hasn't actually been here yet, but it is SO late this the time of the year has already started in our house.  Besides all of the holiday festivities, it is time for our 2nd annual girls weekend at the Lake.  Much. Needed.

My brain needs a break from kids, work, assessments, lists, and all of the drama that fills up our daily lives.  I need a weekend away with my sisters, and a few close friends that could join in the fun.  Think wine, movies, shopping, and catching up with conversations uninterrupted by questioning kiddos and piles of laundry.  Undivided attention from our besties.  Bliss. 


Friday night shenanigans are thought to be a holiday movie, wine and dinner in.  I am thinking something not too-holidayish, since technically that is illegal.   We could use your help voting: Love Actually or the Holiday?  Such a hard choice...maybe we'll have time for both.  Don't let Jude Law sway your vote. 

Combo Movie Choices

Saturday will probably start off with a early morning workout of some sort.  Last year we tackled the endless stairs that led us down to the docks.  Not sure that will be manageable this year since it is set to be SO cold.  Seriously cold.  We may need to keep inside this year...maybe some T25 to wake up the neighbors.


Post workouts and breakfast, we will definitely head to the outlet mall for some serious Christmas shopping action.  We brought home so many bags last year.  We need to take this into consideration when making travel arrangements.  Will we be able to get back in the same vehicle in which we arrived?!  So much fun.  Haley and I got harrassed last year for opting out of lunch to continue our shopping.  Judge away - we were on a mission.

Saturday evening will consist of a late lunch and early dinner followed by a trip to the theater to see CATCHING FIRE!!  So excited.  Last year we saw Breaking Dawn Part II.  Almost fainted.  Had friends on speed-dial.  Hand holding.  Freaking out.  Loved it.  Hoping that Katniss won't dissapoint.

Sunday, get up and get back to reality.  Speed home to kiss my boys and get ready for a short week back at work.  I can handle a two-day work week. 

So thankful for these amazing sisters and women in our lives.  Thankful for the hubbies that give us the much needed time together so we can reset, recharge and get the push we need to keep up the lives and the lifestyles we live each day.  Wishing you a fantastic weekend with your family and friends.  Follow us on IG and FB for updates on the blissful weekend.

Pregnancy Circuit

Today I wanted to share a pregnancy circuit that you can try...even if you're not pregnant you can do this and add more weight or make it higher impact.

These 11 different exercises can get your heart rate up while working muscles to help maintain strength.  Notice I say lose muscle like crazy while pregnant and certainly won't be building muscle considering most of your protein is going into building tissue for your baby, and that's okay!  Just make sure you add some resistance to keep those muscles toned as much as possible.

Use a timer app on your phone, like "Circuit Trainer"  that will alert you when to switch exercises.  You can input the times for 45 seconds on with a 15 second rest in between each exercise...making it 1 minute.  One time through will be 11 minutes, 2 times through will be 22 minutes, and 3 will of course be 33!  You choose how long you want to go.  Don't forget that you also choose the intensity.  Listen to your pregnant bodies and keep it low impact.

It doesn't have to be stressful and crazy (unless you like that sorta thing) we at Four Fit Sisters do not.

Black Friday shopping doesn't need to give you hives and make you feel like you must breathe into a brown paper bag.
It doesn't mean you have to fight for a parking space, push someone over for a discounted sweater or rage at a salesman.
It can be peaceful.
How you ask, well just shop away from the comfort of you own home on your laptop in your jammies on, while chugging coffee of course, with your list of people you love and your credit card.
This is how we will plan on doing most of our shopping on Black Friday this year.

We like to focus on one retailer at a time.
We like to stick with the retailers we trust, the ones with free shipping options, the ones with big sales right now and with sales on Black Friday, the ones with good return policies...the ones I trust the most.

Staying Healthy for the Holidays...

Ask and you shall receive ladies and gentleman.  Many people wanted some tips and tricks on how to keep the holiday pounds off.

So here are some of my favorite tips for doing just that.

1.  Eat BEFORE you go to a party.

You are less likely to go "overboard" if you are full before you get there.  Fill up with healthy treats before the party!  I know what usually shows up at our office Christmas party.  It's NEVER healthy.  Casseroles, fancied up potatoes, and mountains of bread aren't the healthiest of options.  If you aren't starving when you get there then you are in the safe zone!!!

2.  Stay away from the "side" dishes.


The most unhealthy part of the meal isn't normally in the main dish.  Turkey, ham, duck, or whatever it is that lands as your main dish is usually the healthiest option for your plate.  It's the sides that get us.  Remember your portions.  Put a small amount on your plate and see how you feel.  Don't force yourself to go for seconds.

3.  Push your workout an extra 10 minutes.


In a high intensity workout you will burn around 100 calories in 10 minutes.  So, if you add an extra 10 hard minutes to your usual workout you are making great strides to keep the holiday pounds off.  If you are upping the intensity or length of your workouts around the holidays you are bettering your chances of burning off the extras that you are sure to have at some point.

4.  Stick to red wine rather than "fruity" or high carb drinks.


It's hard to pass on ALL beverages that are in front of us.  But the best choices are always red wine.  Pass on the spiked egg nog.  The thicker the better only applies in protein shakes!

5.  Have an inspirational outfit.


Having a dress or outfit that you know you want to look your best in is a great reminder to make smart choices before the holidays sneak up on you.

6.  Embrace the dark.


The darkness is misery for me.  It is so hard to find the motivation to do ANYTHING when it gets dark at 5pm.  Try your best to adjust accordingly.  If that means getting up in the early morning to workout then make it happen.  Find the sunshine or embrace the dark.  It's sticking around until spring, so fighting it doesn't work.

7.  Always bring a healthy option to a party.


Start the trend of helping you and your coworkers get healthy.  Bring a healthy option to the party so that you can eat healthy too.   You know that at least ONE of the options at your holiday party will be a great option!
